Santa Rosa, Piazza Ariosta & North Central

Lecce Area Guide

To the north of the Old City you’ll find Santa Rosa, a quiet humble residential neighborhood. The main area of Santa Rosa is mostly houses/apartment blocks which surround Piazza Indipendenza (not really a piazza but in fact two tree lined streets that circle a set of mid/late twentieth century apartment blocks… with some simple but nice shops and walkways underneath). It’s a pretty and quiet part of Lecce to stay in.

About a 10 minute walk out of Santa Rosa proper (to the south) and there’s much more going on, especially the roads around Via Colonnello Archimede Costadura and Via IV Novembre, and as you continue down into the heart of Lecce you’ll find yourself in the old city (about a 15 minute walk) or Piazza Mazzini (25 minute walk).
