About Me

When I moved to Lecce in 2020 one of the first things I did was google ‘best pizza’. Nothing came up. Literally just a crappy TripAdvisor list that wasn't even accurate, and some Google reviews. I was shocked. I’d come from London where there’s a top ten list for everything.

I’m a big pizza fan so I thought… well I guess I'll just have to do this myself. I started asking everybody I knew about their favourite pizzerias, and then visiting them myself to see which ones I thought were best.

Take Me Out Guide was born!

My name is Oliver Kenny, I was born in a town called Haywards Heath (West Sussex) which is between London and Brighton in the South East of England. Prior to Lecce, I lived in London for 15 years where I met my partner Caterina, who is originally from just outside Lecce. London quickly deteriorated into a total shitshow during the Brexit negotiating years (and Caterina was pregnant) so we took a last-minute decision to up-end our lives and move to Salento in late 2019. We were part of a wave of people who left the UK just in time and were in Europe before free movement of people/labour was restricted. We now have two young kids and enjoy a relaxing family life here in Lecce.

In London, I worked in the restaurant and hospitality sector across some of the largest restaurant brands in the UK as well as running my own wood-fired pizzeria for five years in Stoke Newington.

I was born in 86 and am a proud millennial.
