££££ │ Gelato & Cakes

Natale has some really fancy pants chocolates in it’s window and some extremely elegant pastries. Peering through the glass, you see lovely tall ceilings matched with an early twentieth century vibe (a tad deco), which help to bring life to a building that would otherwise probably be quite insignificant in that area.

And life they do bring, and lots of it. Natale is usually rammed, and with good reason. They do by far the most tasteful range of sweets/chocolates/cakes and ice cream in the old city of Lecce, and they are all very delicious too.

The Lecce branch is the big sister to the smaller original, set in a lovely old star-vaulted building in the village of San Cesareo, just outside Lecce. If you ever happen to be in San Cesareo, it’s a lovely place for a coffee.

You can’t go wrong in Natale, it’s an excellent place for a quick gelato, or a vassoio (little cardboard tray) of treats, and absolutely perfect for gifts (boxes of top end chocolates etc.) for friends and family.

You can find Natale at the Piazza Sant’oronzo end of Via Salvatore Trinchese (the main artery of Lecce, that joins Piazza Sant’oronzo in the old city, to Piazza Mazzini and new town).
